Soflab Technology at STAR CANADA 2013
From 7th to 11th of April 2013, the representatives of the Soflab Technology participated, in organized for the first time, an International Conference STAR CANADA 2013 held in Toronto.
STAR CANADA was created on the model of other events concerning software testing area and QA, such as EuroStar, StarEast or StarWest. It’s task is to spread knowledge and experience related to the widely understood QA term. Several hundred people from different countries took part in the first edition of STAR CANADA 2013.

During the four days of meetings, 32 speakers and more than a dozen representatives of Expo companies led their presentations.
Conference Agenda
Participants of the Conference had the opportunity to sign up for a 15 minutes individual interview sessions with selected speakers.
The official part of the Conference began on the 10th of April with Rob Sabourin’s presentation, titled “Testing Lessons from Hockey.” Presentations were divided into several groups and each participant could take part in this, which issues were the most interesting for him. Workshops, trainings and presentations topic was quite broad. Participants could gain ISTQB basic and advanced level certificate, learn new, interesting tools, listen about project experience and get to know applied techniques in practice.
The presentation/workshop: “Android Mobile Development: A Test-driven Approach” by Jeff “Cheezy” Morgan and David Shah from LeanDog was in our opinion the most interesting one. It concerned creating mobile applications and ensuring their high quality. Gentlemen from LeanDog showed an interesting way of creating software, based on automatic tests, which are the first part of the entire project. Only on their basis following elements of the system are being built. During the workshop session, working and tested application was created.
The Conference has been completed with short statements of all speakers.
We think that STAR CANADA is the conference, which one may want to consider while planning participation in next year’s events dedicated to the subject of QA.
